Wolves keep attacking livestock

 

Have you ever seen a sheep wearing spiked armor?

It might look like something from science fiction, but it's a real idea being tested in Europe.

Austrian farmer Rudolf Schaubach designed a lightweight protective vest made from plastic mesh covered with flexible rubber-tipped spikes after years of wolf attacks on livestock.

The purpose isn't to harm wolves.

Instead, the spikes are meant to make it difficult and uncomfortable for a wolf to bite, encouraging it to abandon the attack without causing serious injury.

The concept reportedly took around three years to develop and has sparked debate among farmers and animal welfare experts.

Supporters believe it could help protect sheep while reducing the need to kill predators. Critics argue that more testing is needed to determine whether the armor is comfortable for sheep and effective under real-world conditions.

So far, there is no large-scale scientific evidence proving its long-term success. But as wolf populations continue to recover across parts of Europe, innovative non-lethal solutions like this are attracting growing attention.
