If you see a Shoebill Stork in a wildlife you must bow to it

 

The shoebill is a massive African wetland bird famous for its enormous shoe shaped bill and intense, almost prehistoric appearance. 

Despite often being called the “shoebill stork,” it belongs to its own family and is more closely related to pelicans than true storks.

The claim that you “must” bow to a shoebill is misleading. Some shoebills living in zoos or wildlife facilities have been observed responding to human caretakers who bow, sometimes lowering their own heads in return. 

This is learned or social behavior in habituated birds, not a universal rule for encountering them in the wild.

Wild shoebills are generally solitary and spend extraordinary amounts of time standing almost motionless while hunting lungfish and other aquatic prey. 

Their ability to remain still and intensely focused probably contributes to their intimidating reputation.
