Eating a hot dog in North Korea is now considered an act of treason

 

In January 2025, North Korea took a bold step in its fight against Western influence: Kim Jong-un outright banned hot dogs across the country. 🌭🚫

According to the regime, consuming or selling these sausages in bread is an “act of treason” and a symbol of capitalist decadence. 

A major propaganda campaign was launched, with inspectors scouring markets and streets to confiscate suspect items. Offenders face heavy fines, forced labor, or even harsher punishments.

For Kim Jong-un, the hot dog represents everything he opposes: American culture, consumerism, and the erosion of traditional North Korean values. 

In a country where food is strictly controlled, the ban symbolizes the regime’s total grip on daily life.
